I'm a hobbyist. I service, mod and assemble watches at a desk at home, mostly from parts sourced on DHgate and AliExpress, and I write up what I learn here so I stop making the same mistake twice.
I'm not a trained watchmaker and I don't work on other people's watches. If you've got something valuable or sentimental, take it to someone qualified — the difference between a hobbyist and a watchmaker becomes very obvious the moment something goes wrong.

Nothing here is professional advice. Opening a watch voids warranties, and a case you've had apart should not be assumed water-resistant again unless it's been properly pressure tested. Work on things you can afford to break.
